An excellent display from Legia forwards, Marek Saganowski and Piotr Wlodarczyk, earned the Polish side a 4:4 draw with Dinamo Bucuresti in the second friendly played in Turkey. In today’s encounter Legia was unfortunate to fall behind on 2 minutes after the Romanian striker Claudiu Iulian Niculescu lobbed the young goalie Lukasz Fabianski acquired from Lech Poznan in the winter break.
On 12 minutes Marek Saganowski picked up an excellent pass from Piotr Wlodarczyk, skipped past Dinamo defender and placed the ball in the net giving Legia a 1:1 equaliser. The Romanian side enjoyed parity for all of six minutes when Saganowski received another pass from Wlodarczyk, but … blasted an effort straight at the crossbar. Fortunately, Marcin Smolinski was in its place and ensured the lead. Dinamo pushed for an equaliser and managed to score on 24 minutes, but the goal was denied as the Romanian forward handled the ball. Just a minute later Niculescu again tested Legia goalie, but Fabianski saved. Dinamo's aggressive play resulted in a yellow card for Margaritescu who fouled Alexandar Vukovic. Dinamo had several clear-cut chances, but the first period closed with 2:1 for the Polish side. Wlodarczyk and Saganowski, playing as the wingers, show excellent performance. After the break coach Jacek Zielinski introduced Tomasz Sokolowki II for the tested Moldavian forward Vitaliy Manalyu. The latter will appear in the next match against Ventspils. On 50 minutes the excellent attacking duo added another goal. This time Saganowski passed to Wlodarczyk who located the ball inside Gaev’s goal. Four minutes later Dinamo could level but fired the free kick wide and high. They did not, however, lose their chance on the penalty spot from which Zicu firmly shot inside the net, reducing Legia’s lead to 3:2. Lost goal seemed to deflate Legia players a little. Seventeen minutes into the period Dinamo levelled after a shot from Mihalcea and just three minutes later Niculescu, scoring directly from the free kick, gave Dinamo the fourth goal. Legia did not manage to create a single offensive opportunity for over twenty minutes. The first attacking effort on 80 minutes fell to … a defender, Wojciech Szala who replaced Pawel Kaczorowski some minutes earlier, but the Romanian defenders cleared. On 89 minutes Saganowski and Wlodarczyk proved to be the men of the match as the latter equalised following an exquisite pass from his team-mate. The encounter ended 4:4. Legia Warszawa - Dinamo Bucuresti 4:4 (2:1)
